The Richmond Symphony Endowment

The Richmond Symphony’s Endowment Needs

Your donation to the endowment ensures music-making at the highest level for future generations.

The Richmond Symphony Foundation endowment was established in 1989 by a group of forward-thinking leaders with a vision for the future of Richmond and its orchestra. Through the generosity of our community, the endowment provides substantial support each year to Richmond Symphony operations.

Giving to the Richmond Symphony Endowment

Meeting the Symphony’s Greatest Needs Today and in the Future

Tom and Elizabeth Allen chose to endow a chair in the orchestra. Says Tom, “Elizabeth and I have been subscribers to the Richmond Symphony for eons. A planned gift was the perfect way to assure our Symphony’s existence for future generations.”

Unrestricted gifts to the endowment meet the Orchestra’s greatest needs today and in perpetuity.

Funding a Passion

Your gift may be designated in support of a special project or program. You can name a fund for your family, a loved one, or a program, thereby creating an enduring gift of music.

Preserving and Enhancing Assets

Individual endowments are invested with Richmond Symphony Foundation and exist in perpetuity, allowing each donor to have a significant impact for generations to come. Endowment commitments can be funded over a number of years.

The Richmond Symphony Foundation carefully manages endowment funds to preserve and enhance the assets. Gifts can be made to create a new endowment fund or can be made to an existing endowment fund.   Existing endowment funds accomplish many things for the Symphony, including furthering:

  • Artistic excellence
  • Programming
  • Music education
  • Community engagement
  • Financial stability and flexibility

Endowed Chairs

Endowed Chairs help support the Symphony by underwriting salaries of our musicians. You can support any number of existing endowed chairs by making a gift to those funds. Endowed chairs create a lasting connection to the musician and to the orchestra as a whole and provide a firm financial foundation for the future.

Interested in making a substantial gift to the endowment to establish a new named chair with the Richmond Symphony? Please contact Trish Poupore (804-788-4717, x115 or tpoupore@richmondsymphony.com) for more information.
