Alison Hall

Violin

Alison Hall joined the Richmond Symphony in 2001. She holds a Masters of Music from Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University. Her principal teachers have been Vivienne Thomas, Elzbieta Winnicka, Kyung Yu, and Burton Kaplan. She studied chamber music with Michael Friedman, Kenneth Cooper, and David Noon.

Ms. Hall performs with many area organizations, including Opera Roanoke and the Chamber Orchestra of Charlottesville, and she served for six seasons as the concertmaster of the Ash Lawn Opera Festival. This summer, she played with the orchestra of the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival. She is a member of the Afton String Quartet and maintains a private studio in Charlottesville.

Before coming to Virginia, Alison was a member of the New Haven Symphony, Riverside Sinfonia and Princeton Symphony. She performed a series of Prokofiev recitals for Hospital Audiences, Inc. in New York City. She also taught at the Conservatory of Westminster Choir College and served on the coaching staff of her dear old New Jersey Youth Symphony.

Alison grew up in London and Jersey City. She and her husband now live in Charlottesville with their children, Johanna, Samuel, and Peter.
