Johanna Beaver holds a one-year appointment in the Richmond Symphony, and performs regularly with The Oratorio Society of Virginia, and Wintergreen Music Festival Orchestra. A  founding member of the Afton String Quartet, Johanna enjoys continuous work as a collaborative chamber musician. Currently, Johanna is faculty at Mary Baldwin College and Charlottesville  Day School. Johanna holds a Master of Music in violin performance from the North Carolina  School of the Arts and a Doctor of Musical Arts in viola performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook where her mentors were Mitchell Stern, Katherine Murdock, and the Emerson String Quartet.
