Position

The position is Principal Tuba. Essential duties include performing in our 69 member orchestra and may include work in public schools. Other responsibilities are outlined in our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). This position is expected to begin as soon as possible following an offer of employment during the 2021-2022 season.

The 2021-22 core salary is $47,901.36. Should one double or move into a titled chair, additional compensation is earned on a per-service basis.

Eligibility Requirements

The Richmond Symphony is an equal opportunity employer. We employ only highly qualified musicians, who are authorized to work in the United States.  Richmond Symphony employees are required to complete an I-9 and to provide corresponding documentation when they begin work, which could consist of a trial period.  Failure to do so may result in the forfeiture of a position and/or trial period.

The State of Virginia and Virginia Public Schools, with whom we work regularly, have regulations relevant to this position. Employment offers are contingent on a job-related criminal background check.

The Richmond Symphony will not delay the start date of this position or trial period for the purpose of securing documentation.

Process

The audition is scheduled for January 24-26, 2022. Please apply through the Audition Form. Those chosen to audition will receive an invitation email with additional audition instructions included. We recommend that you not make travel plans or assume that you will attend the audition unless you have received an invitation from the personnel manager.

Please note that all audition materials must be filled out completely, and received by the application deadline, December 6, 2021. Candidates may withdraw from the selection pool by January 3, 2022. To cancel your audition, contact auditions@richmondsymphony.com.
