Ron Matson - Conductor


Ron Matson (guest conductor) first conducted for Richmond Ballet in the 1993 performances of Carmina Burana and is now celebrating ten seasons of Nutcracker with the company and the Richmond Symphony. Mr. Matson is the music director and conductor for The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, the resident ballet company of the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. This fall he conducted the National Scottish Opera Orchestra for that company’s performances of Balanchine’s Don Quixote at the Edinburgh International Festival. Mr. Matson also conducts for Protégés: The International Ballet Academy Festival at the Kennedy Center. For many years he maintained a faculty affiliation with Miami University (Ohio), performing as piano accompanist with faculty colleagues across the country, throughout Europe and on recordings. He is the organist and music director for Central United Methodist Church in Richmond, Indiana. When he’s not traveling for business or pleasure, Mr. Matson resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.
